Efficient Power Conversion (EPC) has commenced mass production of its innovative 100 V integrated gallium nitride (GaN) power-stage IC family, which includes the models EPC23108, EPC23109, EPC23110, and EPC23111. These ePower™ Stage ICs are specifically designed for high-performance motion-control applications, integrating high-side and low-side eGaN® FETs, gate drivers, and level-shifting circuitry. The devices come in compact, thermally enhanced QFN packages, offering improved power density and efficiency while streamlining system design.
The newly launched devices can support operations up to 100 V, with current ratings of 35 A and 20 A depending on the model. This integrated design aims to enhance power efficiency and system simplicity. Additionally, the product family is equipped with features such as fast fault shutdown, secure gate control during power-loss scenarios, and continuous 100% duty-cycle operation. For multi-axis motor-control applications, single-input PWM options are also available.
To complement these power-stage ICs, EPC is providing the EPC91128, EPC91129, EPC91130, and EPC91131 three-phase BLDC motor-drive evaluation boards. These platforms incorporate the new power-stage ICs and include essential components such as gate drivers, current and voltage sensing, housekeeping power supplies, and temperature monitoring and protection functions. The devices and evaluation boards are accessible through EPC’s global distribution network, featuring suppliers like Digi-Key and Mouser.
The target applications for these new devices span a broad range of industries, including humanoid robots, drones, industrial motor drives, medical equipment, synchronous rectification, and high-density DC-DC converters. The pricing for the EPC23108 and EPC23109 is set at $3.70 per unit, while the EPC23110 and EPC23111 are priced at $2.47 each, based on purchasing quantities of 3,000 units. Additionally, the evaluation boards EPC91128 and EPC91129 are priced at $640 each, whereas the EPC91130 and EPC91131 are available for $630 each.
EPC is further supporting its product launch with a technical white paper available in English and Chinese, providing detailed information on the architecture, design considerations, and evaluation platforms for these integrated GaN power-stage ICs.
