During a reception in Beijing commemorating the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, President Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of maintaining confidence and making steady progress toward the nation’s rejuvenation. Xi outlined a vision for China that involves sustaining economic growth, fostering innovation-driven and high-quality development, and improving the livelihoods of its people to achieve the targets set for the year. This approach, he noted, will lay the groundwork for a strong start to the upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan spanning 2026 to 2030.
In his address, Xi reaffirmed China’s commitment to the “one country, two systems” policy concerning Hong Kong and Macao, advocating for their greater integration with the overall development of China. This policy remains a cornerstone of China’s strategy to ensure stability and progress in these regions.
Turning to cross-Strait relations, Xi called for deeper exchanges and cooperation between China and Taiwan. He reiterated opposition to “Taiwan independence” and external interference, underscoring efforts towards peaceful development and strengthening ties across the Taiwan Strait.
On the international front, Xi emphasized China’s adherence to an independent foreign policy centered on peace. He expressed China’s ambition to contribute to building a global community with a shared future, reinforcing the nation’s role on the world stage.
