His discussions with Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar centered on enhancing engagements at higher levels, boosting collaboration in various sectors such as trade, media, and cultural exchanges, as well as promoting dialogue to address sensitive issues.
Wang underscored the necessity for China and India to work closely on regional and international matters. He advocated for joint efforts to advance the concept of multipolarity and to ensure that the interests of developing nations are adequately represented on the global stage. Reinforcing Beijing’s support, Wang expressed China’s backing for India as the host of this year’s BRICS summit and called for increased cooperation within the expanded BRICS framework.
From the Indian perspective, Jaishankar reiterated his country’s commitment to fostering a positive and cooperative relationship with China. He reaffirmed India’s established stance on delicate topics such as Taiwan and Xizang (Tibet), insisting that India respects China’s sovereignty in these matters.
